On June 12 and 13, in the office of EUWI+ (European Union Water Initiative Plus for the Eastern partnership) was held a first seminar “River basin management plan: pressure and impact analysis, risks evaluation, environmental objectives and groundwater monitoring program”. Serhiy Hoshovsky, Natalya Lyuta, Iryna Sanina were engaged from UkrSGRI.
The goal of the event is a conversation about general tasks of EUWI+ project, approaches and problem solving methodologies that Ukrainian specialists are going to deal with.
Mr Andreas Scheidleder is a Head of the project. He told us about the stages of project implementation and the expected results.
EUWI+ project helps to bring the legislation of Ukraine closer to EU policy in the field of water resources management, paying the greatest attention to transboundary river basin management.
The aim of the project is development of instruments to improve water quality in the long term and its availability.
This initiative is focused on such fields:
* the legislation, development of policy and institutional strengthening;
* the strengthening of laboratory and monitoring systems equipment;
* the development and implementation of river basin management;
* the public awareness.
